On Nov 4, 2007 a service was held to honour all Veterans buried at Capilano View Cemetery, West Vancouver. In 1957, a South African Veteran, Joe Chamberlain, made the first group of white crosses to mark the veteran’s graves. This year the cemetery staff and Legion members placed over eight hundred and fifty crosses prior to the service.

The North Shore Candlelight Tribute celebrated it's ninth anniversary and the theme was "Their Legacy... Our Future". This year’s candlelight tribute is dedicated to the memory of "The Battle of Vimy Ridge 1917". We recognize and give thanks to the men and women who volunteered without hesitation, to fight for freedom for Canada and the world, and who continue to do so today… we are eternally grateful. The event was held at the North Vancouver Cemetery. Candlelight Tributes symbolize the “Passing of the Torch of Remembrance” from one generation to another. For further information please select Remembrance on our main menu and then click on North Shore Candlelight Tribute. Photos taken by J. Clements.
